Many of ODEC’s member cooperatives recently launched the Electric Cooperative Marketplace, an online platform where member-consumers can purchase energy-efficient products with exclusive cooperative discounts. The Marketplace makes it easier and more affordable for families to access the tools and technologies to reduce energy use and support long-term affordability from the convenience of their home.
Member-focused programs like Marketplace are one way that ODEC and its member cooperatives deliver power savings solutions to families. In addition to Marketplace, all of ODEC’s member cooperatives offer online energy calculators, giving member-consumers insight into how electricity is used in their homes, which helps identify practical ways to save. After all, the lowest‑cost megawatt is the one you never have to use.
While energy efficiency delivers value year‑round, another important tool for managing grid reliability is demand response. This focuses on specific hours of the day, when the grid is under the most stress, and reducing electricity during times of peak demand. Many of ODEC’s member cooperatives use a voluntary program to notify members of these high‑use periods.

These devices allow cooperatives to make small, temporary adjustments during peak periods, often without members even noticing a change in comfort.
