ODEC strives to positively impact the legislative and regulatory processes that affect the service territory of its cooperative members in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia, and its generation and transmission industry.
The Governmental Affairs staff monitors activities at the federal, state and local levels on a variety of issues to ensure that its members’ wholesale power costs remain affordable and reliable.
Issues that affect ODEC members range from Congressional legislation to regulation by the Environmental Protection Agency. Information on energy issues and how they impact America’s wholesale and retail electric cooperatives is available at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association’s (NRECA) website: http://www.nreca.coop/political-action/cooperative-action-network/
ODEC participates in the Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE), a non-partisan political action committee that represents the interests of the nation’s generation and transmission cooperatives, and the almost 900 electric distribution cooperatives and their consumer-members.
