At ODEC, we conduct our business in environmentally sensitive ways. From plant workers to office workers, from management to individual employees, everyone at ODEC shares this commitment to green operations. Specifically, we:
Comply with all federal, state and local laws, regulations and permits designed to protect human life, wildlife habitats and the environment.
Evaluate the potential environmental impact of any plan’s proposed actions. The same goes for our decision-making.
Train employees to be mindful of the environment in performing their work.
Participate in regulatory development on behalf of our member cooperatives.
Collaborate with employees, regulatory agencies, public officials, customers and the media on energy and environmental issues.
Promote cost-effective energy conservation programs.
Reduce pollution by minimizing waste wherever possible.
Recycle or reuse materials at every opportunity.
Participate in renewable energy projects as a source of green power for our member co-ops and constantly seek and evaluate future oppportunities in this area.
Identify any noncompliance with environmental requirements; and if found, take immediate steps to correct them.
Support legislation on carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions as well as assess the legislation’s economic impact.
Evaluate new CO2-related technologies and their possible economic impact.
