ODEC strives to positively impact the legislative and regulatory processes that affect cooperative service territory in Delaware, Maryland and Virginia. ODEC continually monitors governmental activities at the federal, state and local levels to ensure that co-op member-consumers and their communities continue to receive affordable and reliable electricity.
Supporting political candidates who advocate for electric cooperatives is the primary purpose of the Action Committee for Rural Electrification (ACRE), the non-partisan political action committee that represents the interests of the nation’s electric cooperatives and their consumer-members. ACRE accomplishes this goal through the widespread participation of cooperative members, employees, and board members.
ODEC also encourages cooperative consumers to stay informed on energy issues and to make their voices heard. It is vitally important to urge your elected officials to keep electricity affordable through a balanced national energy policy. Information on energy issues and how they impact America's electric cooperatives is available at the National Rural Electric Cooperative Association's (NRECA) website: www.ourenergy.coop.
